This tool is run inside drill pipe or casing via a 5/16” electric line. The survey instrument (gyroscope, inclinometer/accelerometer, data probe) does not use film and can record an unlimited number of survey stations throughout the well bore. The survey information is transmitted via the electric line to a surface computer and is recorded and displayed in real time with an accuracy of ±.10°. It is run inside drill pipe, usually at deeper depths, at the end of a section of hole prior to setting casing or at the kick off point of a directional well when a non-magnetic drill collar is not available. It can also be run inside casing prior to drilling the next section of the well. The SRG is the tool of choice for orienting directional motors and whipstocks. It has a temperature limitation of 110°C [230° F] without a Heat Shield
